OMFG, I'm so sick of the writers/ authors (especially the new ones) who cannot handle criticisms. I dislike authors who devote a whole new chapter for author's note simply to bitch back at reviewers who critiqued their works. Why the hell did they post their stories online in the first place if they don't want people to comment/ critique on their works? Now, there are different types of comments. Most writers have to deal with constructive criticisms and flames at some points. Flames are harsh, I know that from personal experience. I received one flame for 'And if the Sun Won't Shine...' and another for 'Solitude Chronicles'. What did I do? Devote an entire page to bitch back? NO! Flames aren't worth our time, but constructive criticisms (CCs) are. Yes, I do know the differences between flames and CCs.
This one is a flame:
Oh my fucking GOD!! Did you not read the GRAVITATION manga or if you saw the anime did you get the damn names mixed up? You are a friggin idiot for even attempting this story. omg... people like you... make me want to kill something... Man... I hope you didn't have high hopes for this piece of shit story...Flamers usually 'attack' the authors personally. They rarely comment on the works, but they bitch about the authors. These kind of comments aren't worth our time. If they want to bitch at us, so be it. It's not worth our time to devote an entire page bitching back at them when you can use the precious space for a new chapter. Domains and webspace are not free. Making a new page simply for bitching is a waste of space. CCs, on the other hand, are directed specifically at certain parts of the story. Some remarks may sound harsh. Sometimes, CCs are meant to be harsh to portray a crystal-clear message.
What I fail to understand is the fact that some authors seem to take CCs personally. These people need to wake up from their sleep and realise that writing is not about getting as many reviews as you can. Writing isn't about bragging that you receive more comments than others. Writing is about passion and enjoyment. We shouldn't write for the sole purpose of getting our egos stroked. We should write because we love writing. If established authors and international bestselling authors can still be critiqued, who are we to complain? Note: Don't write if you can't handle constructive criticisms and flames maturely.
